Join us as the Australian Medical Students' Orchestra plays its' inaugural concert, "Circadian Cadenza". Featuring works from Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov, and conducted by the magnificent Warwick Potter, this concert will represent an exciting collaboration between medical students from all over Australia.

Event Summary

The Australian Medical Students Orchestra meet annually with the goal of performing music together while raising funds for a worthwhile local charity. In 2018, AMSO performed in Hanrahan Hall at Villanova College in Coorparoo in support of the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. The orchestra consisted of 72 medical students, six doctors, and 4 local artists, with professional input from a locally based conductor and a well known Australian violinist from Sydney. After three full days of rehearsal, the doors were opened to a local audience consisting of high school students, local medical students, doctors and supporters of the orchestra, culminating in a 2 hour symphonic performance of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad.

This project was only made possible by the kindness and generosity of our sponsors and donors. We successfully raised $1,855 for the foundation after covering our costs.
